Why is this "genre" like this? Where is the actual passion of science and research on science?

>book claims to be "sci-fi"

>takes place on boring ass planets like mars (how original), or the planet has new super mario bros levels of basic themery (like dune) when planets with fucking diamond rain and planets that are only habital on one remote area or a thing

>civilization of aliens is anthro with a few unique physicial characteristsics, socially behave exactly like humans. goes against zoology. the species could be so much more,

>man these authors are SURE nose deep into science enough to make scifi guys /sarc. a lot of the fauna and how they evolved also doesnt make any sense given their environment

>technology is exactly like humans. civilizations are exactly like humans. doesnt dive into anything interesting scientifically on the tech side. explores no interesting science fiction concepts whatsoever.

>mfw the best sci-fi is just reading about what exists out there, what unique scientific phenomenons and concepts in each field sci-fi touches on (zoology, astronomy, culture, technology etc) and dreaming up would very much could exist (it gets extremely bizarre)

Have you read Greg Egan?
Also, Chinese science fiction tends to be a lot more educational because a lot of it is government funded.

Are you bitching about CS Lewis in particular? Keep in mind those books were written in the 30s..

Sci-fi at its best is exploring philosophical themes not autistic world building.

Most genrefic writers are too dumb to engage with actual science on a level beyond superficial “he clicked a button” and abuse the sci-fi label to write blatant fantasy.

Malacandra was a post-apocalyptic planet, its atmosphere was mostly destroyed and the only places where breathable air remained were deep artificial valleys. Also the most evil thing a hrossa can think of is wanting to be with to females at the same time.
I don't get how OP criticizes Lewis.
