I couldn’t find a small bookshelf at target but I found a mini wooden dish rack that can hold like five slim paperbacks. So I’m using that now. Looks almost intentional if you have brain damage and thankfully I’m the only one who can enter my apartmenr

Why is trying hard a bad thing?

And for the record this is the only type of reading I enjoy. I'll try fiction...eventually

They should make kids read actual nonfiction in school. And definitely not fucking trauma novels about some dumb bitch that gets raped. I dint need a book to tell me not to rape women, I mean mosr of them are fat and retarded anyway but I digress.

Why didn't all my history teachers give us book recommendations? Because we were coddled and they thought it was too hard for us. Either that or they didn't care. True education is done by the individual. Education with nuance requires some heavy reading. And learning about the world is fun

Despite the effort, the authenticity is lacking. That's why it is labeled try hard. If it was authentic, the person wouldn't have to try.

Oh, sorry. I'll go and read some cute and valid lgbt romance stories so I can be in the know :)

If I wanted to have fun I would watch anime or youtube. Is it surprising that there are people that exist who like to learn about the world and ideas? Why is that sad. It's not.

Here is what exists of my current physical stack at the moment minus a book or two (can't find them at the moment) digital stack of 114+ ebooks I need to read/finish reading not included. I'm missing one of the Dale Pendell books and a book about the history of Opiate use in China. Am I insane? Most likely. Will I ever read all of these books? Doubtful. Do I have a problem? Most assuredly. Are these books/subjects of any worth/value/ interest to the average /lit/pig? Probably not.

I'm currently working my way through the 700+ page Daoism book in this stack. You people cannot even approach my ever-growing list of "to be reads"

Am I "flexing?" No. Not in the slightest. Please send help.

Original peer reviewed historical research on the positioning of nomenklatura, intelligentsia, intellectuals, professionals and white collar workers in relation to self-articulating movements of workers. I'd recommend you read Sheilah Fitzpatrick and Andrle if you're interesting in how the soviet union was fucked up. Haraszti Miklos is just a standard fordist narrative from an intellectual sent down to be a worker, he didn't really penetrate the factory.

You can read better than Applebaum: you're worth it. Drinking shit won't turn you into spiderman, reading refuse won't allow you to critique actually existing socialism.

>True education is done by the individual.

I could not agree more, anon. Most of my profitable learning is done independently. The attainment of a degree is just a foot in the door at this point. I can't stress this enough. It sometimes feels like I am more aquainted with certain topics than my professors, and I am still in undergrad.
