I bought a nice omnibus of the first three Gaunt's Ghosts series, and in the preface the author himself spoils the death of an apparently beloved character and how everyone was mad at him for it

It was stupid, but the worst part is that the character doesn't even die in the first three books in the omnibus. So he spoiled a plot beat that apparently happens deep in the series in an omnibus intended as an introduction

What a fucking moron

Not really, ESLs always use these weird idioms because they learned English from books or movies. On /lit/ you can always tell who’s an ESL because they use archaic stilted language they learned from reading 19th century novels.

As a colloquial phrase, “commence to” is extremely rare in either film or boom, it is usually used in conversation ironically because it is an archaic colloquialism, along with terms like “tarnation” and “gee willikers”

You know. Sometimes I think that it is bad to kill other people.
But then again, I also sometimes believe that I should be allowed to kill people who insult me in ways that have nothing really to do with politics. Whatever, the world is a garbage dump and deserves nuclear annihilation
