Is there a greater story in world literature than the story of Christ? The pathos, the love, the wisdom, the tragedy, the resurrection. There is something about the Gospels that is unparalleled in its power to inspire. It is the story of all stories.

The scammers are those that denied their own messiah. Although Christianity and Judaism share a common ancestor (ancient Israelite religion), they are diametrically opposed and one does not "come from" the other.

Do you know one iota of where this religion even came from? Any clue of who a single author of the new testament even was? You didn't even try to rebuke the fact that the entire ethics and idea of after-life judgement is ENTIRELY ripped from Plato, lending all the credence in the world that Christianity is just a platonic lie-slave religion made up by Hellenized jews after the Romans nearly wiped them off the face of the earth.

My brother, there are countless events in human history that are unexplainable and seemingly defy logic and scientific possibility. This should not be the foundation for your belief. You are basing your religious world view on a scientific materialist model of reason, logic and evidence which goes against the entire Christian system of faith.

What is so great about it? I found reading the gospels to be rather flat and unaffecting.

I wouldn't use the word invent because I don't believe any religions (with the exception of mormonism) are founded by one person or persons who just came up with a story. However, I do hold the view that the gospel accounts are not eyewitness testimonies but are instead the collation of various memories and oral traditions about Christ from the first century. There are other gospels for example that have not survived such as the Secret Gospel of Mark or the infamous Q source that were not sufficiently preserved. We know very little about what they contained and where they originated from

They would be less coherent if they were just that. And even liberal scholars accept a dating as early as 70 AD and this is merely because they can't accept the temple destruction prophecy. Even by the 70 AD there were still a bunch of eyewitnesses of events 40 years prior, this without taking into account st. Paul's early writings

The apostles themselves had disciples as successors and they could easily verify each other's testimonies, same for st Paul and his disciples

But they're not coherent that's the problem. There are abundant differences between them. Things like the penetinent thief being referred to in one accoutn whereas in others it says both thieves mocked Christ. Or the inconsitences with what Jesus said on the cross and the order in which he said them. There is also contradictions as to how Jesus meets the apostles. John doesn't even agree with the synoptics as to how many years Jesus' ministry lasted
