Can we really blame Paris for starting the Trojan War? By all accounts, it was unforeseeable that his actions would result in such a conflict.

In Iliad (and I think Aeneid), Venus makes it clear to blame the gods (or the Fates, I don't exactly remember) instead of Paris and Helen

It's like a group loser thinking he can pile on on a friend's roast. You don't have that right.

Paris was fucked no matter what. He had to choose one of three petty, vengeful goddesses. No matter which one he'd gone with, the other two were going to scheme to destroy him.

It was Zeus part at first but he knew that you can't win in such a situation

He gave them the cassus belli to invade. Perhaps one could argue they would have invaded eventually regardless, but his actions ensured they would always have the moral high-ground.

The more important question is:

Was Helen a filthy whoring jezebel?

They say the Japanese find the Trojan War fascinating in theory but upon trying to read primary sources become highly disoriented and depressed. They call this Paris syndrome.
