Also this. In this kind of environment you can only get better. You'll might end up speaking english better than most of their native speakers most ot the time.

The anglosphere has been too tolerant of ESLs and their accents, letting almost anything remotely comprehensible pass as "English". Let's not pretend that more than a handfull of people have ever insulted you over your ability to speak english -- it simply does not happen.

I believe some of the reasons some people struggle with language learning are psychological like this. For example, subconsciously refusing to mimic the pronunciation or refusing to be part of the new grammar system.
That French girl on YouTube that learned perfect Norwegian said what helped her the most was her burning desire for the new language and culture to become a part of her.
