it's not so much for pleasure, it's more like hoping the parts of my brain that prerender my reality and have certain frameworks preloaded to get my attention in case I come across something that fits the framework, and hopefully whatever I come across that fits that framework triggers a realization about my life that'll make everything easier for me for the rest of my life

I technically am. I'm always reading a book. Not 24/7, obviously, but there's always a book I'm in the middle of reading (and I make sure to read at least a little bit every day). I always know what book I'll read next, before finishing the current book. I try to make sure I have that book before I finish the current one, which means I can never say "I'm not reading anything right now". This has been going on for more than 20 years (I'm 32), so yeah, I guess I am addicted to books.
