It makes sense that school libraries/libraries have a list of books that they won't carry. On top of some books being inappropriate for children, it is taxpayer money that is paying for those books, so taxpayers should get a say in what does/does not get shelved.

It's true that in lots of cases a school no longer offering something as part of a curriculum gets some dogshit headline pretending it's some top down censorship, and in Canada at leastbprior to 2016 just as many challenges to library content came from the left (see the Canadian Library Challenges Database) but in Alberta the provincial government actually did just try to get rid of any books with any sexual content at all removed from every school library, k to 12. The original policy was so broad it covered "explicit sexual content" in print, audio and visual format, which basically includes half of all books ever written. They got enough pushback on it to revise it to just images and tried to disingenuously pretend that's what they meant all along. It was pathetic and retarded. Any case where something inappropriate is found in an individual library should be handled at the local school board level. Don't let culture war nonsense let you give license to illiterate authoritarians interfering in your day to day lives.
