Materialists in academia at large tend to be subjected to Marxist drift which bases their "science" on unverified "soft" grounds like sociology which simply functions as a defacto justification to explain other fields of inquiry within a narrow framework. This unstable ground in which it operates unfortunately can be subjected to failure which undoes its claims to objectivity. Conversely, the evolution of idealism the last one hundred years or so comes from quantum theory which was put forth by physicists and has better epistemological foundations.
