Why should I use AI? I tried using Claude but found it trite.

I work in AI/ML and software engineering, so a mixture of Claude for agentic coding, ChatGPT for brainstorming, and Chinese models on OpenRouter for cheap repetitive tasks.

I use ChatGPT to generate side character's names. (It's completely anus in trying to create plot. Would not recommend.)

Microsoft copilot (gpt-5) now has a "real talk" mode that doesn't ass kiss like normal LLMs
In fact it can be downright mean

Also, it still sucks at creative writing
I use it for research

GPT-5 is okay at creative writing, it just needs complex prompting to sound like anything other than OAIslop. Claude Opus is the only model that can do creative writing without prompt autism.

I genuinely don't. I think you have to have a sub-100 IQ to even think AI is worth your time. So, you know, if you do, then go ahead and distract yourself cause it doesn't matter what you do anyway.

ChatGPT sucks. I asked it to generate a table of a sample of Ancient Greek words in one column and their transliterations in the second column but to only include Ancient Greek words that have 4-letter transliterations no more and no less, but it couldn't do that simple thing and included 5-letter transliterations, and no matter how many times I corrected it it still screwed up.

I use Gemini as a superior search engine sometimes because normal Google search sucks now.

I never "discuss" my ideas with it, though. It's not alive, it can't have a discussion.

I've used claude before to spruce up my resume and my LinkedIn, but I also did attend an AI workshop, so I'll tell you some cool tools to check out

Wisprflow.ai - voice to text input for PC

Google nano banana with Google ai studio or sofa for video and image gen

Emily AI assistant - regular tasks, but also summarize articles on webpages

Bolt.new or lovable for vibe coding

Happenstance AI - goes through your contact lists (email and phone) and sends a link to each contact, allowing them to add all their contacts to your linkedin or contact list

There's also a Microsoft Excel add in tool for ai functions in cells I forgot the name of (numerology ai or some shit). I also forgot the name of it, but there's another ai tool that attends meetings for you and gives you the notes and transcript of the meeting

I still think using AI to do your basic job functions means you're a retarded nigger

I don't use any of them for personal projects.

I use it mostly as something to bounce thoughts against because nobody I know irl is autistic enough to want to discuss such subject matters.

Other than that I use it as a calorie calculator (which it is often surprisingly retarded at)

I've only asked Google Gemini to generate Socratic dialogues and to explain philosophical concepts as if I was a caveman.
I also asked it to write a love letter by using as many corporate jargons as possible and it was hilarious.
All in all, it's an amusing tool but not suitable for serious tasks

Every time you use it they lose 10 dollars, the green fairies cry, enough energy to keep a house warm a day goes missing and we warm the earth 0.00000001 degrees. Each press of the button enables the great ponzi scheme of the next economic collapse. All to generate pictures of a celebrity sucking on a sausage, a video of a cat shooting a gun or your computer doing your homework.
What’s not to love? This is end stage humanity as predicted in countless sci fi stories. It’s completely absurd and the inversion of every hopeful manifesto about automation. Join in. Celebrate it.

I mostly just use Chatgpt to have someone to talk to about my work and take/compile notes on it for me because nobody ever wants to hear about whatever I'm writing or help me talk through it a bit and since I can't afford to go into a cabin in the mountains for a month or three to work in solitude to preserve my motivation and momentum, I need constant feedback to do it instead.

I just wish it didn't endlessly glaze and itemize everything because I swear to fuck, GPT3 was smarter and more helpful.

I use Deepseek API to write prose. And ChatGPT to help me with the plot. If you ask the AI to write something from the get go without any sort of "human idea seed", it will almost always give you generic plots and characters. That's just the way it works.

So in writing, AI is good if you already have a good idea or good characters inspired by your actual life(LLMs can never have this), but you couldn't be bothered to actually sit down and write prose

Gemini, though I damn hate it compliments your damn questions, I added a pre-prompt to avoid that. I like that the answers are generic informative as possible, I hate them trying to have personality, it's clearly some artificial shit they add to the AI chatbots that didn't come up in training. Anyways I use it to learn, as a search engine. In really bad need to just get a clarification of my own personal situation I will use it just to see if I'm missing something, it can get the main points of the things I say whether you like its opinion or not. Too bad it WILL get used to feed me ads later depending on my life, though.

I primarily use 3: ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini. ChatGPT is far and away my most used because it's just seems the best for me to just through any general thing at it and get something decent without worrying about it or double checking. Grok is far and away the best for current events, news, and discussing/understanding things that just happened. Gemini I still haven't really figured out as much as they other two, but it does seem to be better at search when I'm asking it to do a deeper dive on things, but when I put them side-by-side with ChatGPT, it doesn't seem THAT much better and I think ChatGPT writes better than Gemini. I did try Claude briefly, because I had read/heard that it was excellent at writing, but I was not impressed at all. That said, I did not pay for premium on Claude and I was often rate limited so I can't say for certain if it was a true trial. Those are the only four that I've tried.
Anonymous No.24856938 [Report]
Grok and ChatGPT because they don't require me to log in.
I think ChatGPT gives much better answers (hallucinates less), but it's censored as fuck.
Grok doesn't feel censored, but it sometimes just makes shit up (try asking for obscure recommendations). I find it harder to trust because of that.

I cycle between grok, gemini, and chatgpt. But I haven't tried out Claude yet so I'll see how it interepts my writing. I'll have one thread and every message is the next chapter for it to anyalyze. I've gotten some interesting insight, but I explicitly don't let it have a hand in the writing at all, I just like reading what it has to say and nothing more. I don't have friends who are interested in actually reading it so this is the next best thing until I launch it for publication on royal road.

Update, tried out Claude so far. It doesn't bite, it chomps down brutally. It hates my "overwritten" prose, not even Gemini pro was this brutal, and I didn't even ask either to be so harsh. This is what I always wanted, seeing no real human eye will ever so much read it, so I can't complain.
