It's kind of an interestic tactic for creating a narrative out of nothing. Everyone is a slave to their needs and desires, and they need and desire love (which everyone also controls access to), so everyone is oppressed and also the oppressor.
More important for its success: it's written by a woman and tells men they are oppressed by women.

Was not my takeaway. What I got from it is that women are specialized at manipulating men specifically and generally retarded at anything that doesn't involve social and emotional manipulation. (which is generally true)
Granted the book doesn't have much grounding. It just seems like a series of personal observations from a failed woman, but she gives an interesting picture into her spite for other women by trying to lay bare how women think.
