Pessimism is frankly dumb, I much prefer the post-reflective optimism of existentialism. Many of us have been into the pits of despair, many of us return to it too from time to time, so it's not like we don't know first-person how it's like to be invaded with pessimist thoughts through every fiber of your being. The refutation of pessimism is one's failure to live it consistently. Cioran and Schopenhauer couldn't suicide, and Mainlander's suicide counts for little when he tried so hard to achieve renown whether in this life or the next. Pessimism is as incoherent as solipsistic skepticism. We all value something, and even valuing taking one's life away, valuing death over life, is a refutation of nihilism.
