>>23307043Tomino's commentary on women has been very clear in numerous interviews.
Mirai is not a leader. She wanted to be a follower. The few times she was in command, Mirai was so hesitant and worried that even Sayla yelled at her to stop being so nervous and hesitant. Then Sayla took command without anyone knowing and Mirai said "Let's do what you think is best..." when getting attacked by Zeon.
That's why Mirai wanted a man who could dominate her and lead. She wanted to submit. Mirai feels most at ease when someone strong is leading. Mirai didn't like Cameron not because he was rich or that he was chosen by her parents. Mirai hated Cameron because she "perceived" Cameron as weak. Cameron wasn't a bad guy and there wasn't anything wrong with him. It was all in Mirai's mind.
That's why she fell in love with Sleggar who slapped her when she disrespected Cameron and got out of line. She felt that Sleggar was a strong man she could follow. It's also why Mirai fell for Bright as well. Bright wasn't as muscular as Sleggar, but he could take charge and Bright could lead other men. So she felt safe with him.
This is Tomino commenting on female nature. You can read about it interviews. He pretty much does the same thing in every series. Mirai, Reccoa, Haman, Nanai, etc. He always has an example of a woman in every show that is willing to cross the line to get what she wants.
