He's the red baron in a space war with a secret noble lineage, he's charismatic and has thought provoking motives that make you wonder if you would really do anything different in his shoes.

He is the complete opposite of everything the protagonist is, providing a satisfying juxtaposition. In a lot of ways he is the Hector to the protagonists Achilles. He's a character you've seen in a million movies before- and he's one that everyone can appreciate on some level.
