Is this any good? It looks like a musou but I know it doesnโ€™t play like one.

Too much talking and I mean that unironically.

Can't actually play as any of your favorite characters, instead you play as some nameless oyw jobber who has a dying dream about gundam crossovers before he dies

It can be fun, but repetitive and grindy
It's fine if you can pick it up on sale with its DLCs, but I wouldn't pay full price for it (like most other games these days)

The gameplay is more focused on boss battles and grinding for part drops late game - both to get new suits and equippable parts. You need lots of precise timing for instant defense/dodges later on too.

Also, although there are balanced, melee and long range suits, overall the game seems designed as a grounded 3d beat en' up. Long range attacks are often limited in some ways, needing some time for recharge. There's no flight at all, just jumps and some rush attacks.

Like the other anon said, you play with an OC, not the characters from the shows, who is suddenly taken to some kind of simulation with data from the various universes. You do get the characters from the shows and can take two of them as partners to the missions, but the only special dialogue they have are special intros with each other, they don't get dialogue against the enemies in the stages.

A neat feature is that it has bgms from various series and you can set them to trigger when using a special attack, overriding the stage's soundtrack.

Also, although there are balanced, melee and long range suits, overall the game seems designed as a grounded 3d beat en' up. Long range attacks are often limited in some ways, needing some time for recharge. There's no free flight at all, just jumps, air dashes, some rush attacks and air combos which keep you floating while they're going on.

I loved it, The boss battle are the best part and it is more like a 3d beat em up where you can go DMC lite depending on the unit.

I like it at lot, but it has a lot of grinding to get all or at least your favorites mobile suits. It's slower and more methodical than a Musou but you can learn almost infinite combos. Some boss battles are very spongy.

Is it worth pirating or is it only fun in multiplayer?

depends on how much tolerance you have for playing games that are grindy, and whether you got someone who you can reliably play with

repetitive and grindy
game is built for co-op but it's hard finding people online.

gameplay isn't bad, but suits could have more attacks
