God the Scopedog is such a wonderful design. It's like a natural evolution of the Zaku II's aesthetic, legitimately a beautiful work of art. I agree these designs should be more prevalent in non-grunt mobile suits and such, Armored Core is one of the few that comes close to rugged designs but even it has more streamlined and less militaristic design choices.
