I still love how the most successful kikaiju in Mazinger Z was the Santa Claus one

From what I've seen of Grendizer yeah, although I think a lot of the kikaijus in Z and Great were usually menacing in their own right. It's almost tacky how the saucer beasts almost always have to have some sort of dome shape involved, but turns out they incorporate it into their design rather well.
