Is she like a rallying point for people who don't like how the show ended up or something?

She’s a disappointment, but I think Machu is the bigger lightning rod.

at first she was the rallying point for people insisting that the show was secretly genius and other pseud defences. The latest episode has caused those arguments to slowly crumble and as such they've moved on to defending the premise of the show instead, like you said. She makes a good point of comparison to the feddie milf, since its always been undeniable that she was a throwaway antagonist who served her role in her episode and her fans are more honest that they just like her for porn

People expected more from Deux because she’s a very strange character and her death didn’t have the same satisfaction or closure as Shiiko. Also being a kid would slant expectations away from being a throwaway villain, but Tsurumaki loves to play with audience expectations like that. But Gundam still retains a lot of the old school edge, and they would not blink about killing off a baby and treating it like it’s not a big deal (see Ideon).

still going with that defence, lol
>(see Ideon).
That death was a big deal, the only reason the characters who'd normally react to it ignore it is because pretty much all of them are in the middle of fighting or dying themselves. It's still a moment meant to stir shock within the viewer, and show that the Ide, which previously to that point placed an increased value of the life of children, has grown frustrated and decided to cleanse Humanity. Calling It "not a big deal" is like calling Kycillia's original death not a big deal because it was over and done with quickly.

I like her design and her mobile suit foremost. conceptually I think she was a good foil to Machu, which makes me kind of sad that they didn’t once interact.

In a way. Episode 7 was when the anime started to come apart, which coincided with Deux and Gates getting rolled like nobodies after the hype from episode 6. It doesn’t seem that way in retrospect, but people were expecting Deux to be a major character (design, weird personality, mentions kira kira, kid/teen gundam pilot, cybernewtype, etc.) and the EFF to start being a key player (main characters’ had been talking about Earth for the whole anime plus Shiiko), so it was a disappointment. Then every episode after piled on the disappointments and the pacing went into overdrive.
