Some of the mechs look and animate cool, OST is enjoyable, and Ernie's mech enthusiasm and the last antagonist of the anime and him turning the war into their debate of mechs vs flying machines was fun to watch.

Overall mediocre though, basically the author jumping on the isekai trend but this time with mechs

It had potential, and must have been liked because of all the fucking kits it gets, but it ended before it really got interesting, I can't into Light Novels, and it's appearance in SRW 30 was disapointing as hell and clearly just there so Ernie could sperg over the other series bots than because they wanted to use the setting and characters.

Surprisingly really liked it. Off the top of my head it might be the best of the 10-15 shows that I watched as prep for a SRW game and would not have been on my radar otherwise

It was an excellent series with it's only down sides being bad music and a lack of second season. No idea what all this hate is for.
>>23341695
30 messed up just about everything that debuted in it.

It's good if you like mecha because the director knows the writing is shit.

He basically just blows through the script and just push from one action scene to the next to keep people entertained and didn't try to be deep or sophisticated with the narrative or characters. Not sure if it's like that in the LN but if it is, kudos to the writer too.

One of the best mecha of the past 2 decades honestly. Wish there was more.

Typically an LN adaption would do 3 to 4 volumes, Knights & Magic did 5 because they had to get Ikaruga in for merchandising reasons (which only panned out years later anyways) and it first appears in volume 4, and if you don't want to just cliffhanger in the middle of a story arc you then have to go to 5.

I would say as much as anything it compresses battles though. Like in the LN Kerhilt escapes the fort with 3 Tellestarles and the back weapons on the second are destroyed by the Knight Gears while they are doing hit and run attacks in the dark, in the anime they make it 2 Tellestarles and a Kaldatoah so they can skip over that to an abbreviated cartoonier version of the conclusion with the wire anchor. In general there's more explanation for things because you can get away with more exposition in that medium but the overall structure isn't fundamentally different.

For starters, Mech R&D is the highlight of the series, which is a nice breather compared to the majority of the series in this genre
