I'm not so sure about this. Of the main protagonists, kamille seems the most likely to me to end up in the pilot seat of a mobile suit regardless. Kamille's parents were both mobile suit designers and he was piloting petite suits before the show. The setup for him being a pilot is part of his base character at the start of Zeta. For me the question is more where would he even be. Is his dick dad working for Bask and the diet titans? Maybe his parents sold out and started working for Zeonic or Zimad after the war. The guy who was supposedly the main designer of the MkII, the suit that made moveable frames work, should be somewhere working on mobile suits in this setting too.
