Honestly as much as I love Garo as a concept, I feel like it's run its course. The movie with all three Saijima men together would have been a perfect capstone to end the series. Everything that's come out in the past couple years has suffered from halfhearted writing and shoestring budgets.

I think Garo repeats the same tropes abit too much and Makai Priests are just really boring amongs all of the cool stuff in this universe. And in spite of its horror movie tone, i think Garo needs to return to its romantic roots: a handsome knight in shiny armor saving his mistress.

Mediocre. It was not the absolute travesty like the previous Kamen Rider wannabe show, but it was not that deserving to be a Garo show either. Characters old and new were extremely dry. The story was just another end of the world scenario. The most fleshed out character was Zango and he was the best part, but that's about it.

While I agree with the other posts saying Garo is at a weird place right now, Garo in America was an amazing idea with lots of creativity that should've gotten more than just one series.

Kouga and Taiga pretty much set the mold for golden knights to be stoic action heroes and this can be applied to Raiga too since he didn't show much of his human flaws and sticks to the makai order principles, so the live action series are pretty much playing it safe in term of protagonist writing. This thing got doubled down when you have the more emotional, human makai knight like Jinga fallen into villainy. The stakes have become so high in live action Garo universe, it is difficult to have something flawed and perverted without it instantly becoming a Horror.

Ryuga was unique for like 1 season, and became another Kouga clone for a very long time now. He was such a gimmicky Garo, too, the momment he nolonger having to worry about the armor's defective problems and his status as the successor, he stops being interesting. Kouga worked because the main story didn't entirely rotate around him, there were more secondary things at stakes. They tried to do the same with Hagane but the entirely thing from Soma's writing to the artstyle shift was just a mess.
