He prefaces a bunch of unrelated shit with "Gundam says" though. This show doesn't have any hidden or deeper meanings to anything that's going on. Read that interview with the director, you had people here coming up with all sorts of theories for why the RX-78 became huge at the end and what it represented and it just turned out to be because one guy said they should reference Dunbine and nobody had a better idea than that. Everything that wasn't immediately obviously or exposited on for minutes at a time in the last two episodes had no meaning to it. It was just done as some sort of reference or because it looked/sounded cool.
