What happened to the mandatory anime movie, like what 00 wing and seed have? Is that just not a thing anymore?

Historically speaking some kind of epilogue anime is rare for AU Gundam. Only Wing and 00 got anything almost immediately after it ended, and SEED got one 20 years later. IBO will eventually get a complete one with an actual anime of Urdr Hunt. So, what, that's four out of at least a dozen AU continuities and two of them come way after the original show's run?

But in fact it makes me laugh all these people who keep want to etconning the story saying that Wing is not popular in Japan and is only for Americans. Wing is the most popular Gundam of the 90s and is the only one that received a final OVA series with a high budget for this very reason. WfM has probably achieved the goals that bandai had in mind, but it seems clear that there is not enough demand to do more about Suletta and Miorione (even if a movie would have allowed to go wilder with their relationship)
