How would you feel if more rangers died in Sentai, it could raise the stakes a bit more

Other than sixths/extra rangers they can't because it pretty much breaks the formula, where they need a full team of 5 people to do most of their gimmicks. The only way is to have an immediate replacement lined up like in Goranger Battle Fever J and Bioman (and both of those were unexpected actor problems rather than planned) or to do it at the very end of the show like Jetman when it doesn't matter anymore.

Have they ever killed off a ranger and it NOT been a behind the scenes reason?

Yeah they killed off Dragon ranger, Black Condor Abarekiller and Timefire because they wanted to. Dragonranger specifically was killed because they didn't want him overshadowing the core 5. Even after they kids take a vote on if he could be spared, and they voted yes, they killed him anyway.

Wowwwww. Jokes on them, Power Rangers benefited financially from Tommy outshining the rest of the team. They should have just allowed it.

I'd be okay with it. Like so many things the execution of the idea is what matters most.

It wouldn't have mattered because they swapped out the cast next year anyway. It's not like PR which kept Tommy for 5 years.
