The issue was never the quality of these shows, but instead not being uc. Narrative was WORSE with newtype garbage than gqux could ever be (and come on a failed full frontal clone,who was already a char clone?) Hathaway was a hijacking scene, followed by like an hour of noa hathaway doing politics shit. He only gets in the gundam at the very end of the movie, and has "afterimages have mass" levels of plot armor. Yet /m/ loves these.

Aside from 00, and g gundam, /m/ cannot point to one gundam au they enjoyed, and g gundam can barely be called a gundam show.

I love Gundam, I love that this franchise exists, even if there are parts of it I don't enjoy.
