>for the model kits
Because you bought and/or saw them at very low prices compared to other plastic models?

Honestly, after watching it, it's lukewarm at best, very boring at worst. Leaves absolutely no lasting impression aside from it's own failure impact on it's lack of merch sales and being the cause of the death of Sunrise Beyond.

Jesus, that's depressing.
Especially considering they're good kits from what I remember. I'm surprised more people don't just buy them because of how they look and the kit quality, like 30mm or something.
I couldn't help myself grabbing a Jo Hound and Brady Fox G.

>Spoiler.
I think that's a good way to put it. Felt pretty much the same way on my watch.

Honestly I remember Argevollen more often than I do Amaim. Argevollen had better characters and a better story. But Amaim is memorable just for being primarily 2d mecha animation outside of a few shots.

Pretty much the Ukraine War. This anime had hilarious bad timing and even the maker felt embarassed. Also most people found the mecha ugly. Nice for kit bashing epexially if you can get them at 50 percent off.

No, Build Divers was by Sunrise's "studio 3" team. AMAIM (and Build Divers Re:Rise) is by Sunrise Beyond team, which was the name for Xebec after it was absorbed into Sunrise. After AMAIM they apparently had been assigned some work relating to IBO recap special edition and urdr hunt smartphone thing, but was shut down and probably had assets and staff redistributed to the rest of Sunrise, IIRC their projects were shifted to Sunrise studio 3.

>the main trio just aren't good, and clearly weren't designed with real character arcs in mind
>oddly juvenile despite the political concept, to the point you question why they didn't just do a super robot show
>questionable decisions with the kit line - the Figure-Rise Shion seems to have been a big shelf-warmer since she's not nearly a character appealing enough to grab as a model kit (a lesson they learned for G-Witch given Chuchu took a bit to get a kit), and the second season saw almost no truly new kits, to the point the American army's one robot ended up with five damn variants on the mold

I imagine it's failure mostly comes from the fact that had the merchandise backing of a mainstream Gundam series.
Sunrise does these less popular mecca related series every once in a while, But they usually play a pretty safe.
This time they were just hoping it was cell plastic the same way a Gundam series does for some reason. Not sure why they would assume that. From what I remember, even when Code Geass was new they were pretty frugal with toy and kit releases.
This series got nearly as many kits as the IBO line right off the bat.

Then what do you think of their non-Gundam military-themed mecha works like Fang of the Sun Dougram, Combat Mecha Xabungle, Holy Warrior/Aura Battler Dunbine, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Galactic Drifter Vifam, Armored World/Panzer World Galient, Heavy Fighting Machine/Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Blue Comet SPT Layzner, and Metal Armor Dragonar?
