I found myself thinking about how a mecha's size can determine the kinds & variety of stories you can do with them. Like Giant Robo, Mazinger, other robots in that ballpark, they’re so big that they’re not really good for anything but fighting threats of a similar size, & not just because that's usually what they’re specifically & exclusively built for in-universe, but like what would they even do against smaller enemies? I guess just stomp on them, but that wouldn’t exactly make for the most thrilling story.

Meanwhile guys like the original Tetsujin, being way smaller, fight not only other giant stuff but human-level enemies too like spies & gangsters, you could say they're not too far off from conventional superheroes in that way. I don't even know where I’m going with any of that but it's interesting, right?

You lack imagination OP and you only see robots as tools of destruction much like tanks or planes.

Mazinger Z fights a bunch of conventional armed forces in the anime, which Dr.Hell employs alongside his kikkaiju in the first half of the show.
