Since drones are becoming a bigger and bigger part of modern warfare, what are the odds Gundam re-explores the concept? Wing had a fair bit to say about them, but at that point they were still science fiction. Seems like a machine devoid of humanity would be pretty formidable for a newtype.

The next AU Gundam series should go with an AI Drone plot. Would be dope.

But keep it out of the UC.

Should we count the MAs in IBO?

are we counting AI or only human control? If human control, are we counting neural interface or traditional remote control (one operator per drone)?

Funnels and bits are literally drone based mobile weapons.

Thing is that right now, drones come in two flavors:

1. Fancy long range remote control kamikaze bombs.

2. Autonomous units programmed to recognize a few set objects and shapes at different angles and then kamikaze into them.

The short of it is, autonomous drones capable of complex operations are not a thing, and will not be for a very long time. Because AI training is fucking stupid and incapable of working in the real world.

That shooter in Idaho was able to fool their sensors by setting fire to the area round him, messing with thermal imaging.

I would watch an AU in which Treize, as the main protagonist, fights against drone having badguys and conquers them with the power of chivalry and being a badass.

It's more that teaching a toaster the things we take for granted is really hard and not really worth if all you want is a cheapo flying bomb.

Make them killbots not unlike the ones in F91 that are programed to murder anything that it can recognize as a living thing(probably by some combination of thermal, motion, and shape recognition). It's not a warcrime if it's a robot doing it.

Thing is we have already had a drone-type MS in U.C. Project [Rysis] from G-Savior was a combat AI that had tricked itself into believing it was a real person, but in reality it was just a combat program loaded onto a Mobile Suit of the same name.

Isnt the setting of IBO that the gundams were made hundreds of years ago to fight Mobile Armors after they turned into a rogue AI hivemind? Its been a few years since Ive seen it

The gundam frames were made long ago to fight MA, which were fully autonomous, but I don't recall the show implying anything about a hivemind. Maybe some of the ancillary stuff had more details.
