Quite frankly I haven’t got to these three shows yet, they’re on my personal backlog for sure after finishing multiple 70s super robot shows

Ill be honest. I havent watched any 70s Mecha outside of Gundam. They're very long so I read their manga instead, if they have one at all.

Combattler is 54 episodes, Voltes is 40, and Daimos is 44. They're really not that long, Daimos is one whole episode longer than Gundam and Voltes is shorter. Give them a try.

Just be sure to get the Discotek blu-ray rips, not the old fansubs. The subtitles are much more accurate.

I never did. I liked all three of them, with Commbattler V being my favorite.

I'm surprised they never dusted them off for a revival. The Nagahama estate must have some pull.

There was a Combattler V Pachinko made but in 2012 with some anime cutsenses but that's about it, outside of the Voltes show by Philos, along with the new Daimos show made by them too.

Did one of the guys here work on Tobikage? Voltes OP's animation (mainly when the two dudes are tussling with each other) reminds me of an early episode that had similar animation (5 or 6, I believe).

There's the Victory Five manga which is a crossover between all three and Daltanious. Combattler and Voltes get upgrades and Erika pilots a robot called Phobos. There was a sequel called God Bird that added Raideen.

Daimos - what can I say, I was a fan of the show way back 1978-79. I love how the giant Robot got cool moves and stuff...As the years go by, and I got older, I started to re watched all the robot anime shows and geared myself more on the stories than the kiddie moves. Yes, I lost my interest with the Pseudo-Science and Kung Fu moves and inclined myself with the story and plot. To my surprise, only Voltes V stood the test of time; It has a story that I can relate to, specially with the Voltes Team who are dedicated young soldiers of Planet Earth. Daimos on the other hand became a story of a traitor; Kazuya, a supposedly Earth defender, fell in love with the Bhramin Princess and suddenly screaming bloody "EQUALITY" for both Bhramin and humans. The series conditions the young viewers to love your enemy but neglects the fact that the enemy had left countless millions of humans homeless, defiled, widows and orphans where as the Bramins are just inside their Pyramidion Base involved in some fake-Egyptian/Babylonian drama fest with their haughty and unrepentant rulers. There was also a scene almost the end that Kazuya beats General Sakomori Miwa without thinking as off why this officer had such a bigoted outlook against his beloved Bhramins?...Perhaps he had lost his family from one of their attacks...Now, I have grown fond of Voltes V that Voltes, instead of Daimos, had influenced me and my stories so tooth and claw I would defend the character...Now I have a question for you: You've seen the reason why I made this artwork, why automatically come to tell me all of this and not the guy who made the Daimos wins artwork?...As I said, this is only a reply against that of his doing in the first place.

A lot of it is basically a Tele Novela and not a robot show. Because Flips are basically the Mexicans of SE Asia

A constant in Nagahama’s work is his staunch anti-UN views, with Miwa evidently being a strawman for the Yamato-damashii.

Oh yeah, i heard about that, Combattler VI and Voltes VII appear, i don't think i have ever seen screenshots of those though and i doubt they will appear in anything anytime soon.

God Bird from what i heard adds no new upgrades aside from there being two Raideens now apparently...haven't read the manga so i just assume the Mu made two Raideens and no one knew about or found the other until after the series ended and Akira's daughter finds that one.

Still works as an upgrade in a way, Double God Voice and all that.
