Why does the orginal Gundam's modulated pistol sfx get used/referenced all the time, but not Zeta's "PLOO PLOO" noises?

Zeta's sound effects aren't as iconic. Also the 1980s was an era of rapid tech changes and experimentation. So sound effects get changed often.
