I think attack on titan or a plotline similar 'ie small protagonists vs big thing' would be better suited with mecha.

There's a number of seinen manga that feature people fighting or just trying to survive against much larger enemies and sometimes they're robots.
Mecha is about two dudes roaring manly defiance while beating the shit out of each other in giant robots.
