It isn't bad.

It’s just packed very densely with information, with a ton of intricate factions and subfactions, a lot of technical terms introduced, characters showing up and not being explored. Tomino himself believes he may have went too far, but overall was pleased with the work.

Tomino himself recommends you watch the movie version first. Which notably, has been received really well by fans, especially relative to the TV series.

I tried watching the first few episodes and the pacing is incomprehensible and incoherent and the dialogue is very, very 80s. It reminds me of zeta gundam.

I guess it might be a slow burn but I didn't have it in me to grind it through.
