If I'm a newfag to older mecha would I like Xabungle? I'm having a hard time getting into mecha from the 70s and 80s

it's reasonably well-animated, but you really have to be in it for the silly jokes. and women that'll kick your ass. those are the two main things going for xabungle besides mecha design, actually.

I mean, if you like comedy, I guess? What do you look for in a show? If you’re looking for more serious Tomino shows other than Gundam, then maybe Ideon or Dinbine will be more in your alley. Otherwise if you’re just looking for general 80s recommendations then a short, serialized adventure such as Giant Gorg is something I’d always recommend a watch

The pacing is very slow, although you can't ever make that criticism these days without people saying "check your ADHD zoomie lololo1111"
The other problem is the episodes structure are always the same, there's no development or progress with the characters or story
I get that they're comfy shows to watch after work every week, but even in that guideline I'd like some kind of progress
I know this is likely to summon the "netflix binging killed anime" schizo but that's not what I mean, I don't binge or anything.
I even enjoy slice of life anime, so it's not like I don't enjoy no plot shows

What you’re describing is very much contained to monster-of-the-week shows, rather than “70s-80s shows” at large. Other than Gundam, you can get a lot of serialized storytelling out of stuff like Macross, Votoms, heck even Vifam mostly subverts that trope, in addition to the aforementioned shows like Gorg or Dunbine. Just give them a shot, you’re bound to like some of them. I wouldn’t necessarily go into Xabungle with that mindset though

At this point you're going to have to describe which shows you've watched that you're referring to
The only 70s/80s mecha show I can think of that has literally zero continuity between episodes whatsoever is Daitarn 3, literally every other show has it somewhere even if there is slow pacing

Stick to isekai retard, pretending to like mecha won't replace your lack of personality.

Nothing happens in light novels, either. They all reset to a status quo every time and only make dishonest gestures at progress.

they got the wheel wrong on this, it's solid so you shouldn't be able to see the other side
also i'm like 95% sure it doesn't have those front levers, just the throttle part

I feel like Gundam isn't as bad about pacing as people say. Usually they'll take 5-10 episodes to get moving but after that they'll keep a steady pace with decent or better plot progression.
It never gets as fantastical and "out there" as some shows but then again it's supposed to portray a realistic war and character drama rather than anything else.

Turn A is some of the best of the genre but that's not 70s or 80s

Dipshits like you keeping newfags away are why we only get shitty CG mecha and a new Gundam every few years. Killing the damned market interest
