Is there any modern toku that has a vibe similar to stuff that was coming out right around the transition from showa to heisei?

Keita Amemiya's stuff in particular (Zeiram, Kamen Rider ZO) is something I've found myself gravitating to lately and I would love any recommendations that are in the same realm of the cosmos.

I feel like so much modern Kamen Rider has been very intentionally comedic or tongue in cheek, the thing I love so much about showa stuff is how it's absolutely ridiculous while playing it with a totally straight face. Is Gavv more like that? The last Kamen Rider I tried was Gaim and I couldn't get into it.

Gavv has a surprisingly somber tone. The producer wanted the show to take cues from the original series. Early in the show, Shoma was more of a wandering hero. He initially stayed away from people so they don't get involved with his family's bullshit.

No, toys and parental complaints have solidified the majority of toku to be trash.
The early 2000s era is gone, and never returning.
Just watch all the toku from that era, and accept that there's nothing left. You have roughly a decade worth of toku.
You have to lower your standards way too much, to tolerate the shit they make now.

Dont think showas style would translate well. Theres a reason why kamen rider had to shift things up from showa to heisei. Cant show too much violence either. Also having to put way more focus on toys. Making this show clearly is a expensive then before.
