Two months have passed from the engagement at Side 6's Izuma colony. Shortly following the order to institute Martial Law until all elements of the reported "terror" organization lurking within the colony are discovered and destroyed, all negotiations between the Zeon government and the Luna Protectorate completely cease. On Earth, Zeon's naval suffers a catastrophic loss of men at the hand of an unknown attack force operating from the ocean, allowing for a major offensive to be lead by the infamous Bask Om, killer of Zeons Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi. The Earth occupation forces of Zeon, having suffered major cutbacks to their armaments by order of Artesia Deikun and political council aiding in the reconstruction of Earth, is left only able to contain the Federation remnants movements rather than directly mobilizing to retake the East Coast of North America. Denying their involvement in the armament of these forces, Gene Coliny denounces Side 3's leadership as supporters of the Zeon remnants subverting the local governments of Side 6. While Captain Bright is saddled with the questioning of Amate about her involvement with Char Aznable, a slew of isolated attacks begin across the other colonies of Side 6, each ending with supposed cells of anti-government subverters being eliminated by an unknown group.

Meanwhile on Earth, Bask Om discusses the major victory achieved by his blitz operation across the Atlantic.

4 seems like the safest choice, but personally I find myself gravitating towards option 2 because I find it interesting. I like the implications that Jerid and Machu actually seem to be getting along somewhat, Machu's been training on it and her pilot stats are pretty decent IIRC and I have a gut feeling that they will need to sortie the Gundam. I will kind of call BS if he turns up with uber god tier stats because he literally sat out almost the entire OYW, he deserves to be much weaker than canon Amuro, and even he struggled in Zeta at first because he hadn't piloted since the OYW and was out of practice.
It's at least possible that Amuro has been getting in MS fights for years escaping the authorities or whatever, but would seem like an excuse to give him inflated stats imo.

Albeit I am not sure how Machu is meant to intimidate a Musai. Just firing beams across its bow or something?
Best thing to do is follow the GMs' lead unless enemy MS show up in which case Machu will have to take charge of the battlefield. They (probably) won't fire with the Musai while their own MS could get hit after all.

It seemed more like a "Bright will never let me pilot the Gundam and we really need it now, so at the very least you should do it in my stead". Still, the fact that fucking JERID of all people actually swallowed some of his pride, somewhat acknowledged Machu's skills and gave her an opening to pilot the Gundam is quite noteworthy coming from him. I'm interested in seeing where this character dynamic goes, but I'm pretty sure that both Jerid and Machu will get fucked once this is over.
Also I'm really hoping Machu doesn't have to take the lead, she's got a fucking horrible base LDR stat, and she even got hit with a -2 LDR to boot. Tomato's only good enough to follow orders, kick ass and take names.

Is that still better than grunt suits without any ace? My gut instinct is it should be, but I'm basically just going off of Total War logic where even a 0 star general is better than no general (outside of rare instances of stacking multiple negative traits).

Atop the hull of the Pegasus-class, Amate locks the Gundam's shield onto its back, before readying both beam sabers and pointing them towards the firing Musai.

Colliding the tips of both sabers, a field of sparks emerges from the merging energy fields, with loose Minovsky Particles flickering in front of the Pegasus. Pulling them away from one another, Amate moves both of the Gundam's arms aside, spinning its hands to rotate the sabers at blinding speeds.

As the program activates its atmospheric reentry program, an airpocket forms around the Gundam as it falls towards North America's East Coast.

Meanwhile on Earth, multiple researchers panic as their psychic monitoring equipment malfunctions.

In Saylas case he seems to think she was a traitor from the get go after it came out who she was. It is fishy how he keeps getting them after all these incidents though.

Returning the helicopter outside, Ramba Ral is informed of Mobile Suit that had survived atmospheric reentry to Earth. Its impact site being the Nova Scotia territories. Meanwhile in Nova Scotia, the Gundam Amate had crashed to Earth in stares out to the Ocean, its monitor flickering from the damage of crashing through the atmosphere.

Weakly unlocking her cockpit, Amate leans forward to try and touch the water seen in her monitor, only for her to fall out from her cockpit to the surface below. Panting in pain, Amate slowly shimmies her body against the leg of the Gundam for support.

"Just know that if you continue to dream of entering the ocean alone, it will take you to a place nobody can save you from."

Hearing Char's last words to her echoing through her mind, Amate's shut as a body approaches her.

Bliss. Pure, unfiltered, unadulterated bliss. In that moment of inhalation, Amate's senses completely alter as she finds herself floating within the depths of the ocean, surrounded by countless sea life.

In the depths of her dreams, Amate finds herself surrounded by countless jellyfish, their luminescent light creating a beautiful field of colors around her.

I'm playing Revil's Advocate here but it's worth keeping in mind that Hobbe's Leviathan was published just after the end of the English Civil War. Having to watch your home country collapse around you for 10 years likely led to Hobbes concluding that any government, even a tyrannical one being better than national fratricide.

For Revil, the One Year War wiped out more than half of humanity and the relative security of the Earth Federation's one world government has been broken, likely permanently. The Federation may have been corrupt, oligarchic and exploitive but its institutions also acted as a buffer to prevent men like Jamitov from fulfilling their ambitions.

Gquuuuuux always had that manga feel to me, so it kinda fits as a side story in the gihren greed routes instead of a main one. It's just machu dealing with her own stuff while the world goes mad.
For now I think the best narrative option is to ally with deux. It's foreshadowed from the start and our very first choice has been leading up to this. Plus she's obviously connected to the plot in some way, and not being affiliated might encourage machu to break free as well.

As Deux moves Amate's hands to her head in anticipation of having her grooming reciprocated, Woody steps outside the cabin to catch a moment of silence.

As Zeon's Central Fleet prepares to depart for Earth in preparation for a negotiation at the Senegalese city of Dakar, Gates Cappa arrives in Nova Scotia with special orders to track down and recover Deux, along with the potential Newtype that she had come in contact with.

The choices are so vague it can go anywhere. Keeping him under and having machu's awakening might not even kill him, they'll all emerge fine and woody will hurry them off while the old man stares daggers at them.

The consequences of choices are never what they might seem, it's mostly a coin flip if they'll survive or die, real unpredictable.

Treating it like a show has worked so far. We chose what would happen with how the characters have been built up and how they'd react and so far it's relatively smooth. If we'd played favourites or did stuff just because, machu would be with char and probably worse off all so that "muh sleggar lives".

Honestly every choice is a different flavor of fucked, I'm not quite sure with which way to go. It's between trusting Deux or getting Woody, but both choices have their considerable drawbacks (we're back at normal connection with Deux and refusing her further might turn her away, but trusting Deux might actually get this kid killed, possibly alienate Woody and draw unwanted attention on us).

Agreed that trying to force Deux up is a fake option we should avoid. Machu lacks the physical strength to do it quickly and efficiently. Deux is also much more adept underwater than Machu is.

As the single eyed Orca "Tiderider's" containment pen is opened, the massive aquatic creature is introduced by its handler, though Deux grows increasingly nervous as she sees the animal in a state of panic.

Releasing herself from Amate, Deux places her hand to the see-through containment of the tank. As she hums quietly, the Orca appears to calm slightly as is swims for her position, placing its snout to where Deux's hand rests.

Feeling the air around her growing hotter, a tide of hot steam flows into the enclosure. While the Orca maneuvers itself to shield Deux, the small framed girl releases a yell to the darkened sky...with an ear rending, mechanical screech erupting from just outside the park, with massive tremors soon following. Rushing into the park, Gates stands in a mix of awe and fear at the sight before him.

This horrifying weapon's primary visor scans Deux's location as additional bursts of burning steam envelop around its coolant ports. Crawling back atop the Orca, Deux raises her arms up to the machine as it scans her. While the crowd remains frozen in terror, Woody uses the opening to enter into the containment tank, swimming onto the Orca as he moves to shield her himself.

Arriving just outside of the enclosure, Gates prepares a device to neutralize Deux's mentally. As he prepares to activate it, Gates feels a slight pain in his forehead.

Sensing Gate's presence, Deux's mouth shifts into a small grin as she looks over to Amate.

Honestly, if it weren't for Ramba's run having the ??? option that secured us a relatively decent ending I wouldn't even consider it. But I feel option 1 will lead to a guaranteed Cyber NT Amate, 2 will lead to Woody and co dying because of a destabilized Deux, and option 3 I feel risks them being captured. Option 4 is EXTREMELY risky but I think if anything Amate jumping in and fighting would be somewhaaat possible. I'm still abstaining but I wanna hear anons thoughts on this.

Both attempt to stop Deux. Beg Deux by trying to talk to her to reach an understanding, Resist Deux by counting on Gates to cut off Deux's connection with the Deep Diver.
Beg Deux is better than Resist Deux since Machu and Woody don't have mobile suits to resist Gates and the Titans so if Deux's connection with the Deep Diver is cut it is almost certain that the TItans will capture Deux and Machu. Woody's good treatment of Deux means trying to convince Deux with Beg Deux has a good shot at working.

Fusing with the Deep Diver is the wildcard option. Machu would teach the Deep Diver that OIdtypes aren't all bad. Has a reasonable chance of succeeding since Machu has memories of nice Oldtypes like Tamaki and Woody.

I'm leaning towards Beg Deux. We've been pretty partial towards her and accommodated her a fair bit whilst also trying to get her under control, so we're close to her enough that she might consider our words, and we haven't alienated her enough for her to outright reject us. That combined with Woody being nothing but a good man and a great parent to Deux might actually give us a decent shot at getting through to her. It's not guaranteed to work, but I'm somewhat optimistic about our chances.
I just don't want Machu to become a Cyber for the Titans after all she's been through and the other choices are suicidal or worse.

Genuinely though, it might not be the worst option here, only potential problem is the inverse also happening and fucking up Machu mentally. That plus damaging Deux's NT level for certain. It'd definitely piss her off too no matter what happens.

I'm not sure if I'd trust her with empowering Gates. I feel she might be a little naive in thinking that could fix him, but then again, this seems early enough in his career it actually might? He could even potentially help us if I'd wanna be optimistic. Kinda like when Gates served under Amuro in one of those runs, which wasn't totally unsalvageable. Worst that could happen is that Deux takes Machi back to the Titans and uses her to help build up a newtype cult to go visit the ocean floor and Gates doesn't change at all or gets stronger and crazier.

Option 1 feels like just going all in with Deux's plan
Option 3 notably is not described as a total break with Deux, just weakening our link. Probably means we all get captured though.
Option 4 is Machu takes over Deux's plan as a more powerful Newtype, relegating Deux to a supporting role. The question is just how much mental damage Machu will take from connecting to a Psycho Gundam like this.
I think 1 is the "safe" option in terms of nobody dying and Machu not suffering permanent mental damage
2 is dumb, it's like how if we tried to force Deux not to drown that kid he probably would have got hurt way worse
3 is for if you're so weirded out by Deux's cyber newtype stuff you want to press the eject key on this whole subplot. However, Machu and Deux will probably just end up forced to do cyber newtype stuff for the Titans or something. It is a kind of surrender.
Option 4 is the actual off-the-rails option for mad lads. Could be good, could be bad, but almost certainly will be weird.
I'm holding off voting for now but I definitely will not pick 2.

I am really tempted by 4 because of this. It's the only option that gives us the possibility of wrangling Deux over to a more humane plan while not exposing us to the Titans
I think if we pick 2 then best case scenario Deux just leaves and feels betrayed by us, worst case she goes full psycho and murders most of the civilians at the park (with Jamaican's assistance of course)
I don't think we can convince Deux to be a better person right now. We would have to force her. And that means option 4 to try and tard wrangle both Deux and the Psycho Gundam at once - no small feat.
The downside, of course, is that if Machu's dogshit LDR stat is reflected in the story, she won't be able to wrangle a goddamn thing. I do however thing it's in character for Machu to take a gamble of this size and overestimate her abilities like this. She's always been act first, talk later (or never). I'm getting pulled to 4 gradually honestly.
