Gundam has multiple timelines each with their own canons. I think the UC is a genuinely super cool sci-fi setting and it's the most popular timeline for a reason. I started with Gquuuuuux. Watching MSG1979 after just made me want to re-watch Gquuuuuux.

As other anons ITT are saying, production order is a very good call and your best most of the time. 0079 is a damn great show. My only advice is that if you watch Zeta Gundam, take a little break before starting ZZ Gundam, the two shows are close in production order but different in tone.

Otherwise, I also really have to echo other anons ITT, Gundam has multiple timelines as-is but also just do or do not watch shit. All of the shows I mentioned above are from one timeline, UC, the largest of these timelines and arguably Gundam's "main" timeline, but even then you are a free man. Above all, I just hope you can have a good time.

so far that's, 08th ms team, 0079 trilogy, origin, igloo, igloo 2, zeta gundam, zeta gundam trilogy. currently 2 episodes into ZZ, but i might watch war in the pocket before i finish it.

I think this dude point of giving 3 episodes and then swap. But do it variant wise, if you dont like OG Gundam just swap out of UC (you wont get into zeta if you skip original for example).

No. This is now considered terrible advice due the prevalent use of "Hey do you remember that reference" that keeps occurring within the Gundam franchise itself both for UC and Non-UC works and also usage outside in popular media. While the movies stream line the plot, it loses much of the characterization that was built up through the episodes. The trilogy is a good way to revisit the core essence of MSG if it's been a while since you've seen the series.
