Don't beat yourself up too much over it, it happens. Hell, it sounds almost comedically similar to my own situation. I thought I'd have loads of time to write Agate's Vigil when I quit my business as well, and yet, so much time was spent just pacing around in circles and not writing. If the motivation is not there, it's just not happening.
At the same time, though, there were a few instances where I just had to force myself to sit down and go "okay, not feeling super into it, but I said I'd do this thing, so I'm going to bloody do it". It's a balancing act. Creating stuff is fun, but there will be moments when it's no but if you want to finish it, then you have to work through those moments, too.
As for your other projects - do them. Come back when the motivation is there. That's what I did while writing Agate, I'd get flashes of inspiration and go off writing COMPLETELY different short stories, then come back to it when the motivation was there again.

I was going for the "accessorized shamare" look, but didn't get all that many accessories.
Also tried making an old shamare, but that's been a bust. Just not enough data on old ponies, I guess. No matter how hard I force "old" into the prompts, I just get regular young mares.
The reason for her color is because I tried making a Granny Smith/Snowmare hybrid, since she's one of the few old ponies in the show that there's enough data on to make. This was the result - couldn't quite make her snowponish enough, either. Nor old.

The americans design a vehicle for antarctic (and arctic) exploration. It has a lot of neat design choices, is very comfortable for the crew, can cross fairly wide gaps via extendable/retractable wheels.
Unfortunately, its wheels are completely smooth, due to being designed for a completely different environment. No grip on ice or in snow. They try to remedy this with extra tires and chains, but it doesn't really work. The longest trip it manages isn't even 100 miles.
Eventually, it is abandoned, and subsequently lost.

It's either still buried under dozens of feet of ice and snow, fallen into the sea after years of glacial movements, or, if some fringe theories are to be believed, the Soviets got it at some point and probably also realized it was bad at being a snow vehicle.
Fun fact, they did a 'tour across america' for it to get it to the port it was meant to be shipped out from and pretty much every potential terrain and steering issue that could happen to it happened. It even created the single biggest traffic jam in Boston up to that point because trying to maneuver a vehicle that large with those tires on shoddy steering in a city was a mistake. Honestly, it makes me thing those anons had to spawn menu that thing in because the idea of getting it through forests and mountains seems hilariously impossible

Small heads up for those of you who use the art archive. I'm changing the way I deal with duplicate images, which will likely reorder the archive quite a bit, and may also cause the time and date of files currently in the archive to be lost (assuming you care about what year a file says it was created in).
Up until now whenever the best quality version of an image had a pixel-for-pixel duplicate, I'd keep all of them. While for snowpone images it let me add the oldest one to the archive for the sake of chronology, over time this approach creates a significant waste of drive space. I will now be keeping the one with the smallest file size and deleting the others.
>Why does this affect the archive?
The IDs of the smallest files may not match the IDs of the files currently in the archive. The IDs are the only thing stopping me from uploading duplicates to the archive.
>How is it a waste of drive space when there's less than 2GB of snowpone images?
Snowpone images are a very, very small part of my pony image collection. I have to automate this process and unfortunately it is more trouble than it's worth to make an exception for snowpone images.

That's the impression I got from doing my research on Inuits and the like, they took their rituals and events very seriously. There was a chapter in an old book an anon linked about an elaborate event that went on for four days or so.

The music of 'Winterblood' and 'Paysage d'Hiver' has a sort of gloomy winter-esque feeling to it, similar to some snowpony work. 'Umbrรญa' for the more light-hearted works.
'The Wicker Man' (the original version) kind of strikes some of the same chords as snowponies do wrt paganism, at least for me.

This entirely new idea for a race/species of pony, that is so similar yet so unique, compared to what already exists. How easily it slots so easily into the existing lore. The focus on indigenous culture, traditions, and religions. The pagan worldview.
