>You try to figure out when your brothers will be away from a visual vantage point of the backyard for long enough for you to perform the daring operation.

>Maybe that is what Cadance was trying to do, get you to jump into playing the game so you lose track of time then get caught after forgetting that your parents might come home in the same night.
>Nah, babysitters aren't smart enough for that.
>There's definitely something about the way she looks at you from the living room sofa, something peculiar about her you don't quite understand yet.
>She looks really pretty, by far the prettiest babysitter you've ever had to put up with making put up with you.
>That combined with her being the nicest babysitter puts her further into your good books than you knew there was space for.

>You used gravity to your advantage with the jump you just did, raising eyebrows on the surprised faces below before swiping one of the guns out of one of your younger brothers' hands.
>"Hey!" The inevitable protest gripes while you pop his comrade in the head with a more effectively imagined bullet that even he has to agree hit him at such a close range.
"Got you." You give your other younger brother a sly grin with a twirl of the little plastic toy gun in your finger with more enthusiasm than when you did the same with the key ring in your other back pocket.
>"No fair!"
"Yes fair." You finish him off with an extra imaginary bullet right between his eyebrows just like in the R-rated movies you've recently started watching to prove that they don't disturb you.
>"Pew! Pew pew pew!" Your younger brother returns imaginary fire anyway, refusing to accept the fact that he died just like you used to when laser tag didn't go your way.
>Bless the innocent confidence in his voice, the determined glint in his eyes as he expects you to go down, waiting for you to be sprawled onto the floor in a cartoonish death pose face down with one arm over your back.
>You remain on your feet with the same unwavering grin letting him know that he's a ghost who can't kill you before your words make sure he gets the message.

>They might as well be glowing red even through they aren't, but the way his brow furrows between his eyebrows ages him up at least a decade in his appearance for the moment.
>One of the rare moments in life when hatred is pure, whether temporary or permanent, the rage in his eyes sends a chill up your spine especially for a young boy his age.

"AH!" You stumble back as he swings again with every last bit of stamina he is able to muster from his evident anger management issues. "Hey! That hurts!"
>He doesn't respond at first and just takes another swing, with full intent of hurting you as much as he possibly can while his twin nervously watches in silence.
>And each and every swing he takes at you is equally matched by the next one's raw determination to demonstrate this this is no longer a carefree moment of innocent playing.
>He's 100% not able to since his strength is nowhere near enough to do any serious damage, but you could see for a brief half-second in his eyes that he actually wants to kill you for *real*.
>You were hoping another moment like this wouldn't resurface, and your parents especially were.
>Things were going so great too since the last time.
>Your younger brothers didn't get grounded so often for no reason.
>Candy sits on the living room sofa listening to the racket coming from the basement, before listening to the stairs creaking from someone ascending their way back to the ground floor.
>She quickly discovers that you've reached the top of the stairs once more with your hand over one of your arms, but you're not about to explain why.
>You very easily could have overpowered your smaller younger brother while his accomplice was just standing there in shock, and took the wooden plank out of his hand he picked off of the unfinished concrete floor and told him not to play with those.

>With the plank still in his grasp, your tiny attacker responds with a concerning "I'm already watching a movie..." as he menacingly approaches his twin brother like they're two early Romans.
>"I said let's go!" Candy raises her voice. "Don't make me come down there!"
>There's a brief moment of hesitation at first, but Candy's sudden stern-ness must have done the trick.
>The wooden plank can be heard clattering to the unfinished concrete floor, which is followed by the creaking of two sets of footsteps ascending the stairs as you still refuse to acknowledge that one of your younger brothers should be getting into more trouble than he is right now.
>He's lucky you aren't really worried about that right now, and *really* lucky you didn't whale on him when you had the chance, because you'd have made him feel really sorry about that very fast had you chosen to do so.
>"C'mon, what channel you little scamps usually watch?" Candy directs her attention to the TV, seeking the remote after being unable to find it after a whole minute. "What, did your parents take the remote with them too?"
"Probably." Your reply, knowing that you wouldn't even be surprised if this was true.
>You *are* supposed to be grounded anyway...
>But as it turns out, the remote happens to be on a nearby bookshelf, which had your brothers rejoicing until the TV flipped on to reveal that all the fun cartoon channels are blocked from viewing as part of your punishment.
>Looks like the parental block on the adult channels expanded its territory to block the kids channels too, leaving nothing but the news and sports and cooking and CSPAN and those channels with soap operas that only old people like.
>Along with a bunch of other uninteresting things that appear on the screen as Babysitter Cadance flips through channels after channel that doesn't have the [blocked] message appearing.

>An educational documentary airing on one of those National Geographic channels is settled on.
>Which would help you go to bed early with how its boringness would put the three of you to sleep.
>You sulk into he couch as your two younger brothers are still too close to the door to the basement not to notice you walking back out with your console in your hands.
>It's not exactly small enough to fit into your back pocket or anything like that.
>Slow wide-panned shots of a scenic landscape are pained across the family room's TV's screen while your brothers gripe about not being able to play "Cowboys and Indians" anymore.
>Which is confusing, since that glare from earlier indicated it was closer to "Pakistanis and Indians".
>But you can sense it: you're about to get your grubby little hands on that gaming console, since Babysitter Cadance already demonstrated that she's entirely on your side on the matter.

>Then you'll probably toss the little toy cars over the fence lining the backyard to where your brothers can't just go get them.
>The sky starts to darken more and more as your brothers continually ask for you to be meaner to them without realizing it.
>As the sky and surrounding scenery gets too dark for you or your brothers to be able to see much, you begin to feel more powerful by the minute.
>Like you can run faster and jump higher under the guise of darkness.
>You forgot whether it was Wood or Forest who has them, but you can see the blinking lights of those light-up sneakers giving away someone's position on the grass.

Thank you! Yes there are so many parts of the lore that could do with a little TLC.
It's become pretty easy to have fun with the music honestly. At first it seemed a bit embarrassing, but completely on point for the characters. Then the villains needed a weakness...
My favorite way to insert it so far was when Pinkie teased Anon into "Smooth Criminal" and then everyone including Mr. Cake joined in.
Sometimes it's more spur of the moment like using the "William Tell Overture" during sex. (That was decidedly NOT planned!) Likewise "Suddenly Sunset" was just free association, but it worked I think.
Next time I'm going to reference a song you used for karaoke and it's probably not the one you think!

>The next morning, when we wandered out of our room, the Princess announced she had a surprise for us. Today's walk and talk would be in nearby Cloudsdale and tonight we would stay at an inn there! It seems the Princess already knew a spell that would allow non-pegasi to walk on clouds and she would cast it on the appropriate girls and me if needed.
>Sunset and Rarity had separate errands to perform today and would catch up. Sunset was setting up for us to visit her parents and all Rarity would say is she wanted to do some work with her local counterpart after she took some measurements of me in my current Alicorn form.
>Cloudsdale had been mentioned in my prep work in passing, but I didn't know a lot about it. I knew that, somehow, everything there was made up of clouds and Pegasi had no problem walking around there. Back "home", the idea of walking around on water (vapor) was generally reserved for religious figures.
>I was mulling this as our group boarded the balloon airship from Ponyville. The operator mare was quite chatty as she filled the trip with various facts and figures about Cloudsdale. She was probably trying to put her best hoof forward because two of her passengers were Alicorns.
>And as an Alicorn, I should have no problem walking on the clouds found in Cloudsdale. In point of fact, my two Pegasi marefriends had specifically requested to spend some "special time" with me on a cloud before we left home. But back in the portal, we hadn't gotten around to that before I was ejected. In point of fact I had yet to confirm that I could actually walk on a cloud for myself.
>And yeah, I knew that the Princess would help me if I somehow found myself in trouble and both help rescue me and cast a spell to let me walk in Cloudsdale if needed. I trusted the Princess to do exactly that with no doubts. But there was something I was having a hard time pinning down bothering me as we all listened to the balloon operator go through her routine.
>Now that I thought about it, it seemed VERY odd that I hadn't fulfilled my marefriends request back in the portal. There were probably several times we might have done this including over the Yak plains where interruption was basically a non-issue, yet it hadn't happened. It was even odder that it had taken me this long to notice it. Normally doing what they wanted was my highest priority. I mean, sure distractions could and did happen, but that had never actually prevented me doing things for them before. Very odd indeed!

"I-I'm trying." I said in a somewhat small voice. "My legs don't seem to want to move."
>All of my marefriends had stopped and turned to face me, the desire to be helpful visible on their faces. Meanwhile the Princess and the operator were amicably chatting away and seemingly oblivious.
>Twiggles said "Well, if you want, I can just lift you off."
>As her horn started to glow, Applejack held up a hoof in a gesture for her to stop. "Wait on that please." the self reliant mare said. "This feels like something he needs to work out. But of course he has our support!"
>After a moment, Fluttershy gently approached and asked "Anon, is there anything we can do to help? Please let us know what's going on inside your head?"
"Mostly I'm a bit frustrated that my legs don't want to seem to move." I said. "After that, there a small amount of being embarrassed by how silly this is. But I'm coming up blank on the core cause."
>Fluttershy softly replied "That's ok Anon. We've got all of the time you need because you accomplished our important research already. But I don't want to pressure you so I'm going to wait on the other side of the dock and be there when you're ready." Then she turned and gently walked to the railing on the far side and swished her tail as she waited.

My eyes were still locked on those swishing tails and my forelegs started doing very small steps in place in a light rhythm.
>Pinkie Pie, having figured out what was happening, declared "Oooh! I wanna see!" as she bounced over to the other side of Rainbow and just openly GRINNED at me as she started swishing her tail in time with the other two.
While I was still ultimately stationary, I was raising my forelegs decidedly higher and my pace had quickened a bit. I was also taking deeper breaths.
>Applejack and Twiggles had finally caught on and joined the formation and started swishing in time with the others.
In response to this, my behavior was anything but cool, calm, and collected! My breathing was rapid, deep, and I was openly snorting! I was somehow doing a full trot in place! It was all I could do to keep myself from unsheathing!
>Fluttershy looked back at me and smiled in her bashful way.
>I reared up and charged onto the dock towards my marefriends! Barely noting the dock was solid beneath me when I was suddenly surrounded by a lavendar glow that stopped me and a very small raincloud moved above me and started to drench me. The sudden cold shower helped to calm me down rapidly as I naturally analyzed what was keeping me held in place.
>The evidence told me this was the Princess holding me and not Twiggles. In addition to the raincloud, the field holding me was applying specific pressures to areas of my legs to keep them still. That was informed by a lifetime spent as a pony. Twiggles, by comparison, would just apply an all-over pressure and hope for the best.
"Thank you Princess." I said with a smile. "I do believe I needed that!"

I mean eight or nine months ago I was this shy and scrawny kid who was trying to get through a new school without attracting attention and only wanted to occasionally interact with the odd teacher as required."
"Then as you know, I met all of these fine ladies and started learning everything they would teach me. That was the first, but very manageable, challenge to my humility. Mostly due to Applejack's fine example."
>Applejack asked "Me?" right on cue.
"Yes Applejack, you." I said. "When it comes to humility and general strength of character, I assure you that you are quite inspirational."
>Applejack blushed and said "Aw shucks Anon. I don't know what to say to that."
"Well being praised for humility is something of a paradox so what you've said is fine." I said with a smile. "Next big challenge to my sense of humility was the ambush. Now that was obviously a life or death situation, so any traits that would limit me, like humility, were discarded for the duration so we could all get out of there alive. But that was only temporary."
"And when that was over, my marefriends were honest to goodness superheroes! And my humility had to reconcile that with the fact they still treated me the same. Heck, they gave me a bit MORE respect because now they knew I could join them in a fight without slowing them down! In fact, an idea I had was an actual asset to them! All good things, but not really humble."

"Yup." I said. "But she can't be around ALL of the time. Fortunately for me my marefriends are ALL capable and resourceful folks! Rainbow tried first of course, and it's important she knows I remember that. Then we come to THIS little ringleader." I said as I pointed at Fluttershy.

"Yes you." I said with a bright smile "You figured out how to challenge whatever issue I was having with something I wanted MORE by casting some simple and universal magic.
>The Princess kept her expression carefully neutral as she asked "How do you mean Fluttershy cast magic?"
"Well I'm taking some figurative license of course." I said while still gently smiling at Fluttershy. "I mean the kind of magic that happens when a boy looks at a girl and the girl wants the boy to look at her. Some of the simplest magic there is."
>While I had locked eyes with Fluttershy, the Princess said to Twiggles "He does this all the time doesn't he?"
>Twiggles asked "How do you mean?"
>The Princess replied "Not three minutes ago, he was having a crisis, and now he's one of the smoothest talkers I've ever seen. I'm betting this happens a LOT." Then she addressed the group "Alright folks! It's time we move this walk and talk along before I have to grab another raincloud."

NOW their focus on the chores made sense! They would get the most time for their training by doing the chores right the first time! "Kids," I said in a calm tone, "I need to make this VERY clear. You are supposed to run away at the first sign of the Cartel!"
>New Boy answered with "Sir, I one hundred percent agree and we WILL run if we have the chance. But it's entirely fair to mention that at the theater they surrounded us first to prevent that. And there's no reason to think they won't do that again. I won't put your sister in danger sir, but if danger comes and we can't run, then we need other options."
I had to think on this for a moment. None of what he had just said was wrong. Normally surrendering to folks with guns was the better path, but in the BEST case, the Cartel would enslave them and force them to be prostitutes. But more likely, since the Crusaders could break their brainwashing, they might just outright kill them. Neither was acceptable. The kids were right. They might need to fight. "Eyup. Show me how you're training then. Let's see if I can help."
>The kids broke out into big smiles and eagerly explained their ideas. They said they could really use my help to practice the second part of the maneuver, but something sorta stuck out to me...
"New Boy, I gotta ask, why are you holding your backpack in front of you like that?" I asked.
>New Boy responded with "Sir we've always used our backpacks against the Cartel."
"I see." I said. "But a hammer isn't the right tool for every job is it?"

>Scootaloo met my eyes and answered "Yes sir. It's because when Anonymous introduced us, he asked US to look after Billy as the older girls had done for him. One of the things we took that to mean training up his body too. We can't do exactly the same thing because Billy is still growing where Anonymous was mostly done, but a heavy backpack will make him stronger and build up his endurance until he's ready for more intense workouts."
"So y'all are thinking long term?" I asked. "I will admit that's a pleasant surprise. Alright, well we got about twenty minutes until Granny rings the dinner bell, so let's do your training."

Hello everypony!
I hope everyone enjoyed this segment, but I realize I keep referring to past events in the story and that might be off putting for new readers. So for those that might not know, this story is being updated regularly at https://ponepaste.org/10501 which is also listed in the OP. So that's where to go to understand references like "The Announcement Photo".
In other news, Big Mac gets an appearance today and as a MC! (I sometimes use alternate MCs in this story because Anonymous can't know everything I want the readers to know. Also it's fun to surprise folks!) And the Crusaders understand there will be another fight already and are trying to be more ready than they were last time.
Meanwhile there's no need to retell the segment with Sunset's parents and Mary if it goes the same as it did last time. And putting Anonymous in front of schoolchildren is fun because they have no filter.
Next week should be our last in Equestria as the pie contest difficulties are dealt with and we get an interview with Princess Celestia that sets up important elements for the epilogue before we get to the final battle and proper end of the story.

"Of course Princess Celestia." I said. "It comes down to having more Alicorns. Simply put, the more you have, the more secure your people are. By that logic, you should either keep me from leaving or have me leave some foals behind. Unfortunately, neither of those are acceptable to us, so I came up with a different offer that may meet your needs even better."

Hello again everypony! Our trip into Equestria is finally done and as promised, Princess Celestia had a meaty role to help set up for a ballooning epilogue!
