So... is there a way to have the server DL the addons into the Gmod client "cache" for this server, since I want to keep my Gmod as vanilla and optimized as possible and not subscribe to a bunch of bloat and clutter?

The reason why is I'm developing things in PAC, and I want to make sure they work for everything specficially on vanilla Gmod clients as a baseline, so I have to keep addons to a minimum.

Like, for example, could I download the collection with Crowbar, add it to my local garrysmod/addons/ folder, and then assign it to ONLY this server?

To be clear, I'm not talking about the game content, since most of that has to be client side, I'm talking about the addons. Those can be server-side only.

Someone who knows how to make and host a proper Gmod server should really have the client download the addons into the "cache" and be used server-side. There should be absolutely no reason for the Gmod user to have to add a collection to play on a server.

Sounds like a great idea, only that's how this server used to do it and it caused a bunch of issues for people. Forcing them to redownload content they already had when rejoining the server or during map changes. And if they had a custom addon pack like the backflip mod for HL Source COOP it wouldn't work.
