Cupcakes was a decent shipfic parody but as a horror it sucks, and Cheerilee's Garden is an awful "le grimdark!" gorefic with no redeeming qualities. The writing sucks, too.
If you actually think either of them is a good story, please read more fics and/or real books.

I think the thing that got to me the most in Cheerilee's Garden was the ending in the sequel.
Twilight did all that work just to stop Cheerilee only for all of equestria to pin the blame on her for Cheerilee's crimes. Even Celestia believed Twilight did it but still wanted to try and protect her as her faithful student. It wasn't until the very end during Twilight's death that she realized Twilight was actually innocent. Stricken with grief, Celestia swears to reshape Equestria so something like this never happens again. That shit is one of the darkest endings I've ever read.
