The episode's plot is a that Sunset is trapped in a time loop and the only way to escape it is to learn to appreciate how "unique" Pinkie is. Over the course of the movie, they end up getting closer to each other as their relationship deepens.
I personally found the scene where Pinkie Pie brutally rapes Sunset senseless behind the bushes to be just a bit much for me.
