Why's Luna the go-to for the axe? Is it for lack of a better match? I'd personally put her on the spear, since it's the most ancient and traditional weapon, but I'm curious to hear otherwiese.

I can see them only using these for a real battle, the exception being glimmer who always keeps her dagger on her.
Also Twi just strikes me as someone who'd study her weapon endlessly but rarely uses it in a real fight.

Bow is an effective weapon that requires skill.
Luna in the show is shown to have no idea about anything and loves everything dark and edgy. She'd go for claws or whip and fold instantly.

Nailed it. This is exactly how I would make the selections; each weapon fits the personality of ea h pony pretty well. Though, I would prefer Luna having a halberd rather than an axe.
