They have a few really good angles and then they look super awkward from a bunch of other angles. Frankly, the Imalou style was just always meant for 2d.

Celia Kaspar (character designer who was signed on even before Imalou) spoke pretty freely on her panel at EponaFest a couple weeks ago. So freely that they didn't record the panel looks like it.
Anyway I asked her about the butts, she hesitated (even held back some info), but confirmed that they had to be toned down for 3d.

There's no reason to watch TYT. MYM is... acceptable, as long as you can suffer through the boring first chapter. TYT has no real story. I watched it back when it aired because it was just 5 minutes and we had something to discuss, but it's not really worth watching by yourself.

G5 butts look so laughably tryhard flat, it's ridiculous. Absolutely unnatural shape, awkwardly sloping, almost concave instead of a round for, you know, something that has to move and has muscles. Flat and in one piece, their asses look like sweatpants pulled over some wood slab or something.
