I'm aware that some artists had some pretty awful health problems recently. At least two; not sure if noteworthy enough. One owes me art and tries to keep me updated through 'chemo', but he's nowhere close to being relevant. The other one idk.

Danfango700 comes to mind. One of the greatest old school YTP creators I know of, really funny motherfucker. Then he got troll's remorse and disowned all of his work. Really sad case.

I've seen it happen in other fandoms, and even with artists that do nonfandom work.
A lot of artists, especially younger ones, will delete their old work just because they don't think it's as good as their current work. I personally enjoy seeing how an artist's work changes for better or for worse over time.
Twitter is unfortunately where one can get a lot of attention on your works even though its not designed for sharing art.

I feel like no one wants to hear this but in the early days of the fandom a lot of people either had a casual interest in furry art or the fandom or already fapping to furry porn on top of some artist already being in the furry fandom prior to MLP starting and just went back to it once they convinced themselves furries aren't as bad as ponyfags.
