Ponies often loaf like a cat whereas horses will have their legs off to one side since that's more comfortable just due to the anatomical differences. They're not straight up cats but they do often get quite catty.

Well, in season one they kinda did sometimes lose limbs but that was a budget thing. I do think that they often exhibit behaviors and tendencies that aren't equine but you're free to argue that they're primarily equine.
