Every once in a while, I want to offhandedly mention that Celestia is supposed to have a RAINBOW mane. How she's meant to be a nod to general pop culture rainbow + unicorn imagery, like pic related. But I always refrain, because I know that one autistic motherfucker will come in, and say "um acktuahlly it's supposed to be an aurora mane, idiot" and I want to fucking strangle that person before I even post anything.

She has a rainbow mane. Rainbows = harmony, peace, and hope. The sun is what makes rainbows, and rainbows + magical ponies always go together. No it does not need to be literally a roygbiv color order for the rainbow symbolism to be evident. And Celestia's mane is DEFINITELY NOT intentionally designed to resemble a phenomenon that (in cartoons) is always associated with COLD, POLAR REGIONS AT NIGHTTIME

I think Celestia is rainbow themed to imply she has ALL the best traits of the mane 6/EoH, combined. She's supposed to be the best of all of them, the ultimate mare of harmony. And the ONLY individual who has ever used the Elements all by herself, because she's the only one who strongly represents each Element simultaneously

Sunpilled post. I've been reflecting on this exact same idea a lot when I've been thinking about her character. Within the framework of the (earlier) show, which is all about strength of character and the cast's ability to embody their virtue under pressure, she's on another level entirely.

Wrong, it's none of this stuff. Rainbows are for things unraveled. You pop the hood (analysis, replication fork, the prism dividing, rainbow mode ON), you fix your junk (working on rainbow), you close the hood (synthesis, the prism collecting, rainbow mode OFF). I'll let you have a weaker secondary symbolism for hope if you think of a rainbow as of something that you see after an unpleasant rain is over, but peace and harmony? Nah, you're making it up.

It's their entire founding myth. Equestria is naturally is a COLD SHITTY (AND MAYBE POLAR TOO I WOULDN"T KNOW) PLACE where they used to FREEZE THEIR ASSES OFF until they GOT THEIR SHIT TOGETHER and WARMED IT UP. And they got themselves an alicorn or two at about the same time, so it checks out.

That being said, her haid is not aurora, obviously. It's airglow. The pink band should be somewhat more orange to fit sodium lines.
