Every once in a while, I want to offhandedly mention that Celestia is supposed to have a RAINBOW mane. How she's meant to be a nod to general pop culture rainbow + unicorn imagery, like pic related. But I always refrain, because I know that one autistic motherfucker will come in, and say "um acktuahlly it's supposed to be an aurora mane, idiot" and I want to fucking strangle that person before I even post anything.

She has a rainbow mane. Rainbows = harmony, peace, and hope. The sun is what makes rainbows, and rainbows + magical ponies always go together. No it does not need to be literally a roygbiv color order for the rainbow symbolism to be evident. And Celestia's mane is DEFINITELY NOT intentionally designed to resemble a phenomenon that (in cartoons) is always associated with COLD, POLAR REGIONS AT NIGHTTIME

Wrong, it's none of this stuff. Rainbows are for things unraveled. You pop the hood (analysis, replication fork, the prism dividing, rainbow mode ON), you fix your junk (working on rainbow), you close the hood (synthesis, the prism collecting, rainbow mode OFF). That being said, her haid is not aurora, obviously. It's airglow. The pink band should be somewhat more orange to fit sodium lines.
