Hell no. It's 2 hours of "move forward to win"-tier, the collectibles are every-fucking-where (hence why there are 1936 but not a single one requiring skill to reach), and you get interrupted every minute, asked to backtrack to just around the corner ad nauseam. Once you finish the story and unlock all accessories (I somehow missed a single star, so I needed an extra 5min to find it), there's literally nothing left to do unless you're into extremely generic minigames of which there are like 5 or so. I wouldn't even call this a "game" because there's simply no agency to the player whatsoever. I played for free by borrowing the Switch version from a library, and it's not worth anyone's time.
On the bright side, Sprout was allowed to exist for a moment.

No, I watched some reviews of it when it came out. I believe the biggest criticisms were on the console versions, but I’m not 100% sure. PC might’ve been better all along or at least patched. I dunno. But I am sure I saw people who had the game become literally unplayable, I just don’t remember the specifics.

I recently revisited those Cartoon Network flash games that I haven't played since like 2008. oh the nostalgia, even if they weren't so great.

At least with shovelware it comes off as an actual game with an actual standard.

I still wish there was a real FiM game. I’ve played some fun ROM hacks, but it deserved a real, original, full game. Even if we got a game as shitty as the G5 game but set in the G4 world, we still could’ve had fun with it.

If the G4 reboot is real, I hope it gets a game. I think you should be able to design your own pony, meet the Mane Six and earn your Cutie Mark (which is customized based on choices you made in-game). Wouldn’t that be fun?

Dumping it after a few minutes is exactly what happens to the G5 shovelware, there's absolutely no replay value to it. A simple flash game at least can be picked up again and again in principle (ignoring the death of Flash) because it's pure gameplay, it doesn't matter whether it was the invention of Flappy Bird or a Flappy Bird clone.
