I've seen enough snowpony and kirin pictures that I've been convinced the two species would get along very well if they ever met. I suppose I owe you guys an update, I actually did get that vinyl ripped off and painted, but literally everyone I talked to told me that dark brown would look awful, so I ended up getting it painted gray...
I'll spare you the stories of all the issues I've been having with it this year, but I'm not going to give it the satisfaction of winning, current issue is fuel, I've got a fuel pump that's going in, and once it has that, there won't be anything old left to stop working.
I'm just sad to report that I guess Frosty car won't be happening :(

Well, the longest snowpony story has 496k words... Just shy of half a million, so I'd say there's something to write about them.
If you want the easy route, write something to do with meeting other cultures, somewhere around the time they just make contact with Equestria. It could be either snowpony or Equestrian/Crystal pony POV, and it gives you a reason to talk about snowpony life.

Write about a cocky pegasus that thinks he's going to be fine in the northern weather because pegasi are cold resistant and have their cities in high altitutes already, and then have him experience a whiteout. Either forcing him to land and seek shelter, or camp out on top of the clouds, shivering from the cold and looking down in horror and wondering how do snowponies manage to survive down there.

Write a snowpony POV about having a half-frozen pegasus suddenly drop into their village after a blizzard. Now he needs to be nursed back to health, while also being told in no uncertain means what an idiot he is for underestimating the northern weather. (Possible extra quest to track down his companions from his flock if he wasn't travelling alone.)

Write about purely snowpony things. A young stallion coming of age. Tracking down his first yeti with a few other young stallions. Or perhaps an older stallion on a mission of revenge after a beast attacked and possibly killed a foal from his village.

Write about evil spirits and magical monster shenanigans, if you think you can pull that off. There's a lot of Inuit and other myths out there about all kinds of northern creatures, including malevolent shapeshifters that steal children and can take any form, but can be recognized by their red eyes and sideways mouths. Story could have a bad end just as easily as good. Though the snowponies have adapted to the north, it is not a nice place. Danger lurks around every corner, and a single misstep could mean your end. Could be a painful victory kind of story, where the settlers of a new village get hunted by a local cryptid and eventually manage to figure out how to kill it, though not without losses.

Write about a snowpony explorer, looking for new lands to settle. Don't need to go overboard with monsters, either. Could have something unusual as a hook, such as having a partner with him that helps him out a lot, only to have a twist at the end that reveals that the partner is a spirit and has been dead for years (except now it won't be a twist since everyone can see the prompt).

Write about a stallion desperately trying to find a rare plant that's needed to make a cure for his ill wife, only to fail again and again, with his memories blurry and confused. When he finally makes it back to his village (or is brought there by a shamare that hunted him down), it is revealed that he died a long time ago, as did his wife...

Those kinds of discussions petered out once more serious worldbuilding took over.

I do like how snowponies are depicted with a pretty wide range of cultural influences (the original yakut horses, but also some eskimo, northern european, and various high north american indigenous influences). It's pretty consistent with how earth ponies have a wide pool of influences as well. Makes me wish the other species had that kind of clear variance as well. The kirin in particular being effectively mono cultural felt like a big misses opportunity

They have a vaguely defined emotion based magic. When they're highly charged with positive emotion they get super shiny and translucent. Also they're somehow tied to the crystal heart. IIRC the first bats we see are Luna's guards in Luna Eclipsed and so they were easy to tie to Luna/NMM/the old New Lunar Republic headcanon and go nuts from there, then Hollow Shades was shown on that official map.

I heard this years ago and don't recall the exact source. So basically "Dude, trust me bro" but I recall hearing that Hollow Shades being a ruin and just window dressing in the show when it was clearly a town in the official map was Hasbro making cuts. It was going to be a bat town and the bats would have a speech quirk like Zecora's rhyming. I don't remember what it was going to be though. We got fucking robbed.

No, but some things can be inferred from the show and Crystal Empire's existence. At the absolute minimum, crystal ponies are able to fuse crystals together into solid masses, otherwise they couldn't get things like the huge royal palace/spire in the middle of the city, as well as those continuous crystal roads, or even the houses they live in..
Potentially, they can grow them (it'd be quite a lot of work to mine out that much crystal, and we've seen Cadance magic up crystals in the show).
My guess would be that crystal craftsponies/builders are able to use their magic to briefly manipulate a crystal like clay, where it hardens again once they stop their magic.
They also have that Crystal Heart binding ceremony thing (The Crystalling), so it's also not a huge leap of logic to assume that every foal, when they reach the right years, gets taught how to channel their magic into the Heart via those crystal roads, like when we see all the crystal ponies collectively do and blow up Sombra.
It's hard to say whether it'd be a law or not, but it's definitely a massive cultural expectation to tithe some of your magic every day to the Heart to keep it, and therefore the shield, running.
Hard to say what an elite, powerful wizard-tier crystal pony could do, though. Slam a hoof into the ground and have massive crystal spikes explode around them? Supercharge crystals and toss them like bombs? Craft amazingly powerful enchantments?

Let us talk about the Snow Pony diet shall we? Typically we see Snow Ponies eating stereotypical Gray fish but native societies ate a lot more then that.
