I usually set my LODs in such a manner that they show really high quality far away and then start dropping the quality off but only set to levels where the shape stays intact in the preview. Then for the maximum distance I use a LOD that is really fucking reduced but even then kinda still has the shape.
The result is slightly higher LI than what you'd get going the noob route of going full retard hitting it with lowest triangle count right away but it looks so much better and is still quite reduced.

Of course it's always better to make your LODs yourself but I think if you keep an eye on the preview and make shit stay coherent, giving it enough detail for far away then you can get away with SL's LOD functionality too. Making them from scratch can take a lot longer and yuo always have to take time into account, if it's worthwhile for the given project or not.

If your physics are complaining about degenerate triangles that means you're setting the physics to autogenerate off a LOD that's way too high quality. You should look at your LI breakdown but chances are your download got better but your physics got worse.
Try setting a lower LOD and see if that helps. If you just need a physics box and you don't care much cause it's a small object, set physics to bounding box. If all else fails make a custom physics shape in blender.
See picrel for an example, the physics are just a slanted box. As for the LODs you can barely tell the difference between them but the tri count goes 1.1k > 0.5k > 0.25k and then the lowest is just 4 triangles cause that's enough to evoke the general shape of the object at a distance.

What I mean by that is, when you're uploading, in the physics tab there's a dropdown list that lets you pick how the physics are generated. If you pick high it uses the high LOD to generate them, if you pick mid it uses the mid LOD, and so on. That's also where you can set other methods like the bounding box one, or a custom file.
As for putting it all in the same file: that's nothing special, you just do it and then give them all different names.
For example if your object is called Table then the other ones are like this:

Middle LOD: Table_LOD2
Low LOD: Table_LOD1
Lowest LOD: Table_LOD0
Physics: Table_PHYS

Name all your objects like that and when you upload that file it'll automatically set all the LODs and physics for you in the upload screen instead of needing separate files for each of em. It's much easier.

Man you guys don't realize how good we have it in Baltimare. All of the other pony sims don't have a dedicated community or a sense of identity, so literally nobody wants to do anything and planning shit to do in them is like pulling teeth.

Say I wanted to take a shot like this with the pointer focused on my head while the hooves in front stay in focus, all I have to do is turn off the foreground blur in alchemy (I just checked and BD also has this in preferences). In firestorm it seems you just always have foreground blur and no matter how much I fiddle with the sliders and pointer I cannot get it to work.

for that house I cheated a bit by making the entire physics mesh attached to just one object that's invisible. you can see it highlighted just off the corners of the house. but that shouldnt matter, it's about the density of physics triangles in a given space. even meshes that are one object with one custom physics mesh will do the same. the game actually displays when the physics mesh is overcomplicated for the space it's in and is causing the LI to shit itself, by highlighting it in yellow if you enable physics mesh vision(bottom left pic). interestingly, if you shrink the object enough, the game gives up even trying to use your custom physics and will switch to convex hull automatically which will reset the LI cost (bottom right)
The reason you probably didnt know about this is because most objects in this game are terribly fucking optimized and also dont use custom physics. It only happens with custom physics meshes I think.

I sincerely hope he somehow gets the help he needs outside of SL. It's fucking cruel when people who have actual mental issues think SL can provide them with the help they need but it doesn't work that way and I hate it when they eventually get thrown out and therefore end up in an even worse mental health situation than before joining (distress caused by ripping away the environment that gave them some comfort). Him begging for someone to be there for him fucks with my head severely because I want to be there for people but at the same time I simply can't give them the help they actually need. I have no doubt that his desire for a friend is real but so are his mental issues and neither me nor someone else here is schooled to help with that.

The whole situation is also another example of why I keep saying that jannies really need to act earlier before people like these build a too intense connection to the place and its people. simple reason is that it's different enough that you'd basically need to make a completely new avatar from scratch
shape keys are pretty limited, you can make some varied body shapes but nothing super distorted. some things can be done with small modifications, like a mesh replacement (e.g. for the comically hyper ass) or small deformer animations (e.g. extra tall pony or extra short pony). but the twiggy shape is just so completely different that you'd pretty much need a whole-body mesh replacement AND I bet none of the OP animations would look good either so you'd basically need to make a new AO and at that point you're making a completely new custom avatar
not only is that a shitton of work, but it also won't be compatible with anything made for the OP, so it won't even be particularly versatile or popular. you'd have to spend a dozen hours (if experienced in blender, otherwise easily many many dozens of hours) just to make a meme avatar people use as a joke for 5 minutes

Does anyone have any recommendations for any good RLV-based outfit manager? Main thing I want is for it to be a HUD. If you can give the HUD to others to control it that'd be a bonus.
I'm finally at my limit with the limitations of the SL built-in outfits, such as the lack of subfolders. The RLV folder attach/detach functionality seems vastly superior but I can't find any good UI for it. Most of the stuff I found on the marketplace seems to use the shitty script dialog boxes which are horrendous to use regularly, and half of it costs hundreds of lindens so I'm too scared to try one and find out that it sucks.

Surely someone has made a decent RLV outfit manager HUD already?
