Please be patient with him. He was educated in the USA, so he doesn't know much. US schools don't teach the fact that the Mexican-American war was a war of conquest, or that the US destabilized democratically elected governments in South America, or really anything unpleasant at all about the country. Except for slavery, but even there, they act like the US's abolition of slavery was some kind of great achievement and skip over the fact that most other countries had already abolished slavery long before.
