Take Japan, for example. They started the East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere with the perceived goal of breaking away from Western influence and colonial rule, but in reality, the people of the countries they invaded were treated as lessers and some say they performed an even worse holocaust in China than the Germans did in Europe.
The U.S. also invaded the Philippines under the guise of liberating it from Spanish colonial rule, but the Filipino people were upset that American flags were being raised instead of their own. It would then take decades before they finally got their independence.
There are likely many other examples, but these are just the two that came to the top of my head first. For all we know, if Equestria were to invade Earth, we would not be welcomed as citizens with equal rights to those of ponies, but instead as migrant workers whose status in the world depends on just how useful they can be to it at best or as slaves who are doomed to work hours of backbreaking labor each day to mine Earth’s mineral resources for Equestria at worst.
